14 cancellations over 9 months – 100% AVOID AT ALL COSTS! One of the most unreliable trades I have ever dealt with. In the end, I’ve been left with a partially painted multi-colour roof (images attached), with me finally giving up after 14 cancelled visits to complete the work over 9 months. After exercising so much patience, I am now cutting our losses, and initiating court proceedings to recover the costs for the initial wash (as I now need another wash) and for removal of the existing paint so I can start again. The wash was done in Dec 2022, but then due to weather the coating had to wait until March. This was fine, of course, but once we got to March, that’s when the problems started. The cancellation reasons ranged from too hot, too cold, too wet, too windy, illness, equipment not working, personal issues, and just forgetting about the booking. Many times, we weren’t even told they weren’t coming, with us having to ask when it for to around 10am. After each cancellation, we had to continually chase for another date, at times requiring daily chasers. This process itself was extremely stressful and painful, yet we continued to exercise patience. Before booking the job, we had all the usual marketing, including ‘we’re real roofers’ etc, and Smart Shield seemed professional. It went downhill once the first wash payment was released (to the Director’s personal bank account and not the company account). Now we are getting regular questions from guests, family, friends, passers-by, our Architects, and others on the condition of our roof and it has become embarrassing to answer the question. I have found a very reliable contractor now ready to rescue this job and sort out his competitor’s mess.

Broken promises, denial and roof damage We've had another company repair our roof after the work Smartshield started for us last year. We've had to have a large section of our roof removed to replace felt where loose mortar and debris had been pushed through by their cleaning, where felt had torn under tiles and with the heavy rain in October/November 2022, had caused a leak in our ceiling. The other roofing company quoted for repairing the damage and they couldn't believe the poor quality patch jobs they could see had been carried out by Smartshield; a far cry from the comprehensive sounding remedial work supposedly included in our quote from them. In common with some of the other <5 star reviews here, broken or cracked tiles were not all replaced; other previously cracked tiles have just been patched poorly. See my Trustpilot review (RoyF) for more detail, but pictures here of the cracked tiles after Smartshield's day 1 clean, weeks of the roof sitting with cracked tiles and no ridge valley mortar along with the water damage to our ceiling, wall and the pool of water dripping onto our floor.

We had weather shield paint in our outside walls done by this company. After paying the advance, they cancelled the appointment with an excuse the painter had gone off sick. I had to chase for two months to fat another date. The painters did such a bad job and left the place in a mess. I did a silly mistake of settling the amount as I was at work. I came home and was shocked to see that the walls look bad, they have done the painting without preparing the walls and you can see easily the old paint peeling. In spite of repeated requests to come and look at it, the guy had not turned up and gives me false excuses. I would ask all not to use them as the work is of very poor standard and very unprofessional.

My roof looks as good as new My hundred years old roof was dirty, tired, missing tiles and full of moss. Stuarts team came in and did the job in To Go’s. The first was cleaning the tiles clean getting rid of all the moss replacing missing tiles and broken tiles and coating tiles with a spray lent + chemicals against future growth of moss. A couple of hours later, when the weather allowed they came again and within a couple of hours paint the whole roof. It looks new and it matches the other roof on our extension so the whole house looks new although the actual roof is still the original one. Great job. Great service. I really recommend

I can honestly say the service and standards from this company is nothing short of fantastic. Finding a trustworthy and professional company is becoming harder than ever at the moment, but the team at ShartShield UK have proven they do exist and the work exceeded my expectations. Nothing was too much trouble, they worked around the clock, didn’t charge for extras which I had asked for and completed it to a fantastic standard. We had our roof cleaned and sealed, all I can say was Danny was super professional and went the extra mile. I’d have no hesitation recommending this company to clean and seal your roof. Our house looks 100% better. The bonus was that our patio and driveway was left cleaner than when they started!!
